A bit about how I landed here...
I was introduced to Toastmasters by an Australian friend with whom I did TEFL teaching in Asia. We met up for a holiday sometime later as he was studying in Fulda Germany. I asked how he was going with his studies then the topic went Toastmasters. He talked about the meetings, the fun he had and the great people that he has met there. When I got back it was a few months later that I went to my first Toastmasters meeting.
The one thing that happened was I wasn’t asked to go to Toastmasters I went myself. The reason was I had just finished a degree and was young in a Project Engineering type role. I needed to do something that would get me in front of people. The career entailed a lot of meetings and these weren’t one of my strong points. I feel I am now more assertive and a better listener.
When I first went in it was quite a big step to do this, but we have all been there. You can come in and take on the roles you want when you want.
I always ask myself two questions...
Q. What can I do?
A. Anything I want.
Q. When can I do it?
A. Any time I want.
Toastmasters has given me a confidence that I have never felt before. It has also changed my perception in life.
The greatest value I get is helping others to make things happen.
Pop in by and say hello sometime.

What's in it for you?
Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. You’ll be more persuasive and confident when giving presentations, and you’ll improve your one-on-one dealings with others.
How does it work?
Don’t worry! Everyone in a Toastmasters club was once at the level you are now. The environment is friendly and supportive, and the self-paced program allows you to build confidence with each speaking assignment. And you’ll love the applause! Constructive evaluation is the heart of the Toastmasters program. Each time you give a prepared speech, an evaluator will point out strengths and suggest improvements. At first you’ll be applauded for your effort; later you’ll be applauded for your skill.
